Description

Sheridan was a Union general (1831–1888) whose cavalry command blocked Lee’s escape at Appomattox. McCook was a Union General who later became a Senator from New York. War-dated endorsements on an 8 x 10 lightly-lined one page receipt issued to C. P. Card for “services rendered as Guide in the month of February 1863 at $75 per month.” Endorsed in the middle, “Approved, P. H. Sheridan, Maj. Gen’l comd’g,” and near the bottom, “Approved A. M. McCook, Maj Genl.” Expected folds, a few creases and light show-through from docketing on reverse, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
