“IMPEACHED FOR HIGH CRIMES AND MISDEMEANORS”: “Red-line” copies of the historic Articles of Impeachment against Bill Clinton, obtained directly from one of House Managers of the trial

Three historic red-line copies of the official congressional Articles of impeachment against President Bill Clinton. 1) House Resolution 611, two pages, 8.5 x 14, December 19, 1998, signed at the conclusion in black felt tip by Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and House clerk Robin Carle. The two-article document lists seven accusations against Clinton, beginning with a resolution reading, “Resolved, That William Jefferson Clinton, President of the United States, is impeached for high crimes and misdemeanors, and that the following articles of impeachment be exhibited to the United States Senate.... In all of this, William Jefferson Clinton has undermined the integrity of his office, has brought disrepute on the Presidency, has betrayed his trust as President, and has acted in a manner subversive of the rule of law and justice, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.” 2) House Resolution 614, appointing and authorizing managers for the impeachment trial, one page, 8.5 x 14, signed at the conclusion by Gingrich and Carle. 3) House Resolution 10, one page, 8.5 x 14, January 6, 1999, authorizing the continuance of authority of the appointed managers, signed at the conclusion by House Speaker Dennis J, Hastert and House Clerk Jeff Trandhal. The documents are housed in official red leather House of Representative folios. Accompanied by a letter of provenance from Congressman James Rogan, who served as one of the 13 House Managers at the Senate impeachment trial. The letter states that the documents are “Strictly limited to 15 signed copies of each document” and that “I personally prepared and designed the copy of each document. I personally obtained the autographs of former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, House Speaker Dennis J. Hastert, former House Clerk Robin Carle, and House Clerk Jeff Trandahal on each document…. I had these documents autographed as a memento of the historic precedent of which I was a part.” In very fine condition. R&R COA.
