Description

Revolutionary War general and, later, treasurer of Connecticut (1743–1818). ALS signed “J. Huntington,” one page, 8.5 x 13, March 24, 1781. Huntington writes to his “dear classmates.” In part: “I am glad that there is some one in our class who understands the French language, Mr. Eliott I suppose has arrived before this time at College. About the book for compositions I never had one of the old Whelp, but I spoke for one of the old fellow. You must try to get the handkerchief if you can, as for Nando & Allen I send a little money inclosed if they won’t take this money that must wait for it till I come down again…. I owe the book binder for my Virgil & little Tully. That is all I owe him….” In good to very good condition, with wrinkles, mild soiling, a few chips to edges, and loss at right margin very slightly affecting a few words. The writing is clear throughout. R&R COA.
