Hand-addressed, free-franked panel, 4.75 x 3.25, addressed in Jackson’s hand to “Doctor W. T. Lawrence, Nashville, Tennessee,” and franked across the top, “Free, Andrew Jackson.” Notation to bottom in another hand reads, “Outside of letter, written August 24, 1838.” Panel has been professionally inlaid into a 7.25 x 6 off-white sheet, and is accompanied by an engraved portrait of Jackson.
