Scott (born 1932) was one of the third group of astronauts named by NASA in October 1963. As commander of the Apollo 15 mission, Scott is one of only 12 men who have walked on the moon. Flown 6 x 4 American flag carried into lunar orbit aboard the Apollo 15 lunar module in 1971. Scott has added his handwritten flight certification directly on the flag: “Carried to the South Pole [during flight training], Jan. 1970; Carried aboard Apollo 15, July 16–Aug 7, 1971, David R. Scott, SP A-15.” Nicely matted and framed with a photo of Scott on the lunar surface and an informational plaque, to an overall size of 19.25 x 26.25. In fine condition. An excellent and significant flown relic from perhaps the most difficult living moonwalker to obtain! COA Scott Cornish and R&R COA. Oversized.
