Description

HOLLYWOOD VS. THE AXIS: 1943 album from the bond drive that raised more than a billion dollars, signed by GARLAND, HARPO, LUCY, and more

Impressive vintage hardcover autograph album 10 x 11, from the 1943 Hollywood Bond Cavalcade stop in St. Louis, Missouri, signed inside in fountain by forty-one participants. Some signatures are single page, with some pages bearing multiple signatures. Signers include: Judy Garland, Harpo [Marx], who adds a nice harp sketch and self-portrait, James Cagney, adding a well-done profile self-portrait, Fred Astaire (2), Lucille Ball, Greer Garson, Paul Henreid, Mickey Rooney, Betty Hutton, Dick Powell, Kathryn Grayson, Ish Kabibble, Kenneth Thomson, Minnie Goodspeed, Doris Merrick, Georgia Carroll (Mrs. Kay Kyser), Margie Stewart, Rosemary LaBlanche, Ruthe Brady, Dorothy Merritt, Diane Pendleton, Harry Babbitt, Sully Mason, Kay Kyser, Stuart Ross, Edward Buzzell, and Jose Iturbi, who adds a detailed two-bar AMQS. All signed pages have been carefully and professionally laminated, which does not detract from the overall appearance of the album. The group toured sixteen cities, beginning in Washington, D. C. on September 8, 1943, and ultimately played to over seven million people and raised over a billion dollars in bonds. In fine condition, with a mild shade of toning to pages. R&R COA.
