Acclaimed American actor (1880–1946) best known for his persona as a misanthrope and a comic tippler. Early matte-finish 8.75 x 11.25 photo, signed and inscribed in ink, “To my friend George Nichols, All good wishes, Bill Fields, Nov. 18, 1919.” In very good condition, with light scattered soiling and a few small spots, a few faint bends, chip to left edge, and a hint of silvering.
