Attending to academic duties a year before his death

Influential German philosopher (1770–1831) who espoused a dialectical method by which an idea (thesis) was challenged by its opposite (antithesis) and the two ultimately reconciled into a third idea (synthesis). Scarce partially printed DS in German, signed “Hegel,” one page, 8.5 x 14, February 25, 1830. A Certificate for Theological Studies, from Berlin University, issued to Gunther Adolph Theodor Schroeder, signed in the lower left corner, “Hegel.” In fine, clean condition, with binding pinholes at left edge.
