Cue the violins: A G-man’s marital bliss

FBI agent and archetypical “G-Man” (1903–1960) responsible for the capture of John Dillinger, “Pretty Boy” Floyd, “Baby Face” Nelson, and other notorious baddies. ALS signed “Melvin,” three pages, 5.25 x 8.5, USO letterhead, September 23, 1944. An adoring letter to his wife, Rosanne. In part: “I think of you every moment, every waking moment, and at night I go to sleep dreaming of you, and praying that you are all right. Please do everything you ought to do to keep well. You must do that. I love you more than anything…. Tell the little boy I am thinking of him and miss home so, and that I love him…. Please have someone write me every day while you are resting and getting well after the operation…. You are my Rosanne, my everything, my reason for everything I do…. When I come back I’ll make you the happiest person in the world and be happy trying to do it….” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope which bears two additional Purvis signatures. In fine condition. R&R COA.
