Description

Known as “The Divine Sarah,” world-renowned French actress was one of the greatest actresses of the 19th Century. Two ALSs, in French, on lightly-lined pages, to her niece, one signed “Sara B.,” the other signed in full. The first letter dated May 27, 1967 reads in part, "Think pure thoughts and do good deeds, my beloved mother used to say, and your faith shall make you strong. Never abandon your religion and pray, then you will be blessed by your heavenly father. Think of your uncle and aunt in the far away land.” The other letter dated July 30, 1877, reads in full, “My dear Famiy and your good husband! My thoughts, dearest Famiy, are with you and your darling husband. This letter, although with the best of my intentions, can only express little of what I am feeling. I should not be reaching for the pen when I am in such a dark mood.” In very good condition, with bisecting vertical fold to one, scattered toning and creasing and a few partial fold separations. R&R COA.
