Lansky “kicks back” to Uncle Sam

Legendary organized crime leader (1902–1983) who led the notorious “enforcement” syndicate Murder, Inc., which emerged in the early 1930s as successor to the warring Prohibition gangs and the old-line Mafia and continued to operate into the 1950s. Bank check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Lansky, payable to Internal Revenue Department for $1346.71, September 5, 1939. Usual punch cancellations and bank stamps (the latter lightly touching first name) and faint vertical fold, away from signature, otherwise fine condition.
