Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Maryland (1740–1799). ADS, signed “W. Paca,” 3.5 x 4.5, February 4, 1768. A handwritten legal document related to the case Michael Miller vs Joseph Perry, reading, in part: “File this bill & issue subpoena as granted by his Exlly.” Matted and framed with a portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 15 x 14. In good to very good condition, with toning, a few creases (away from signature), small holes at upper right, and show-through from writing on reverse visible behind signature. The writing is dark throughout. In his 1995 reference History Comes to Life, Kenneth Rendell places Paca’s autograph material into the “rare” category among the Signers.
