Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Maryland (1737–1832) who was the last survivor among his colleagues. Ink endorsement, “Charles Carroll of Carrollton,” on the reverse of a 7.5 x 2.75 check made out to him by Richard Caton for $1383.95 on May 22, 1819. Matted and framed (so that both sides are visible) with a portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 14 x 14. In very good condition, with scattered soiling and light toning, and creases (two vertical creases through signature). The signature is otherwise clear and dark.
