American boxer (1866–1933) who was the first gloved heavyweight boxing champion of the world, from 1892 to 1897. Ink signature, “A few [lines] from Jas. J. Corbett,” on an off-white 7.5 x 4.25 album page, dated May 2, 1893, with Corbett adding three small horizontal lines for the word “line.” Accompanied by an unsigned glossy 8 x 10 photo of Corbett in his prime.
