Singer-songwriter (1897–1933), known as the “Singing Brakeman” and “Yodeling Cowboy.” In melding jazz, blues, and Southern mountain music, Rodgers became one of the first superstars of country music and one of the original inductees into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961. Diagnosed with tuberculosis in his late twenties, he nonetheless continued to record prolifically and to tour until his death at the age of 35. Vintage printed sheet music for the song “In the Jailhouse Now,” signed on the cover in fountain pen, “Yours sincerely, Jimmy Rodgers.” In fair to good condition, with back cover missing, chipping and tearing to edges, a few small holes and spots of skinning, and a vertical crease (just touching last letter). The signature itself is dark and otherwise unaffected. R&R COA.
