Two days before the Declaration of Independence

King of France (born 1754) from 1774 to 1792. In the wake of increasing unrest that developed into full-fledged revolution, Louis and his queen, Marie Antoinette, were executed in 1793. LS in French, signed “Louis,” one page, 4.5 x 6.5, July 2, 1776. Louis writes to an unnamed gentleman. In part (translated): “I send you … a memoir…. You must look for M. Rollin right away … so that he may tell you the truth of the matter.” Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. Intersecting folds and faint scattered staining, no faults affecting the signature, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
