Loyalty to the owner of Ford’s Theater

Renowned American Shakespearean actor (1833–1893) who was the brother of Lincoln assassin John Wilkes Booth. ALS, one page, 5 x 6.75, January 9, 1876. Booth writes to J. D. Ferguson. In part: “As I informed you … my time is entirely filled until the spring when, after a brief rest, I shall go to California. So long as my arrangements with Mr. Ford are satisfactory I do not feel justified in entertaining other offers from Baltimore.” Intersecting mailing folds (partial separations, one with tape repair; one fold lightly touching signature) and light soiling, otherwise fine condition.
