Cash writes from Tahoe to singer/songwriter Hoyt Axton (1938–1999): In full: “Thank you for singing on my new album. I was thrilled beyond words when I heard your work. What a compliment! I told June that I’d bet your balls weighed at least five pounds apiece on ‘Highway Patrolman’ and ‘Joshua Gone Barbados!’ Your friend….” The album in question is Cash’s Johnny 99, released in September 1983.
