Description

South American soldier–patriot. He was Bolívar's lieutenant and became the first president of Bolivia. He resigned in 1828, took service with Colombia, and won the Battle of Tarqui against Peru. He was assassinated near Paslò. DS, in Spanish, signed “A. J. de Sucre,” one page, 7.5 x 10.5, January 19, 1825. Untranslated proclamation to a member of his government. Document is affixed to a 9 x 12 piece of black board. In fine condition, with previous storage folds and a touch of light toning. R&R COA.
