WELL TO DO: The oil magnate signs a drilling agreement

Petroleum magnate and financier (1892–1976) who became one of the richest men in the world. DS, five pages, 8.5 x 14, June 19, 1937. A drilling agreement between Getty and the Carl B. King Drilling Company for the Masters Farm in Pontotac County, Oklahoma. King agreed to drill “with rotary tools into the Hunton Line at the approximate depth of 3,950´ unless Getty elects to have same turned over to him abandoned or completed at a lesser depth.” King also agreed to pay “all labor, expenses and furnish everything necessary to drill” and will “hold Getty harmless against all claims whatsoever arising as a result of blow-outs, explosions or accidents.” File and staple holes to top edge, otherwise fine condition.
