Description

Howell Rangers contract signed by three Hall of Famers

Hockey Hall of Famer and longtime star for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League. A stalwart, stay at home defenseman, in 1967 Howell was the last player in the pre-expansion era to win the Norris Trophy, and famously (and prophetically) said that he was glad he won the trophy then, because Bobby Orr would from then on forward. DS, one page both sides, 8.5 x 16, National Hockey League letterhead, September 23, 1956. Standard player’s agreement between Howell and the New York Rangers for the 1956 season for a salary of $9750.00, with a $250.00 bonus should New York finish second or better in the standings. Signed on the reverse in blue ballpoint by Howell, as well as Hall of Famers Murray Patrick and Clarence Campbell. In fine condition, with expected document wear and missing one corner tip. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
