Confederate major general (1826–1895) who distinguished himself during the siege of Petersburg. DS, signed “Wm. Mahone,” one page both sides, 11 x 7.25, Atlantic, Mississippi & Ohio Railroad Company letterhead, April 5, 1872. A certificate for twenty-four shares of stock in the Atlantic, Mississippi & Ohio Railroad Company issued to James Spencer, signed “Wm. Mahone” as company president. In very good condition, with previous storage folds, light wrinkling and toning and some staple holes. R&R COA.
