Description

Highly influential American writer (1922–1969) widely acknowledged as the most dynamic and brilliant figure of the “Beat” movement. His classic autobiographical novel, On the Road (1957) takes a place among the high points of twentieth-century American literature. Personal check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Kerouac, payable to George Eddy for $2000.00, August 4, 1958. Kerouac purchased a house from Eddy in Northport, New York, where he would live with his mother for several years. Eager to protect his privacy there, Kerouac once instructed an interviewer, “I do not want mention of Northport. I still live there. I do not want carloads of Zen beatnik hipsters scouting my yard and house.” In fine condition, with two light vertical folds and cancellation holes to left edge, with nothing affecting the clean signature area. R&R COA.
