JONES GOES HOLLYWOOD: The legendary golfer inscribes a photo to actor Regis Toomey

Golfer (1902–1971) who, in 1930, became the only Grand Slam winner in the sport’s history, taking the U.S. and British Open and U.S. and British Amateur titles. Over the course of his career, he would win a total of four U.S. Open titles, five U.S. Amateur titles, and three British Open titles. Fantastic vintage matte-finish 8 x 10 photo of Jones posing with actor Regis Toomey, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Rege Toomey with best regards, Sincerely, Bob Jones.” Toomey (1898–1991), who started his career as a stage actor, went on to appear in such screen classics as Spellbound, Guys and Dolls, and the High and the Mighty, and enjoyed a busy career in character roles on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Accompanied by a letter of authenticity from PSA/DNA. The very slightest suggestion of wear at edges, and moderate contrast to writing against the grassy background, otherwise very fine, fresh condition. Auction LOA Steve Grad/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
