THE MEN AND THE MAGIC: DISNEY and 21 of his artists sign a pioneering animation study

Signed book: The Art of Animation. First edition. NY: Simon and Schuster, 1958. Hardcover with dustjacket, 8.25 x 11.25, 188 pages. Boldly signed in early fiber-tipped pen on the reverse of the front free end page, “Walt Disney.” Several text pages have also been signed in ink by a total of twenty-two Disney animators and artists, each near their respective photo. One two-page spread features a photo of the Sleeping Beauty story team, signed by Tom Oreb, Joe Rinaldi, Bill Peet, Don DaGradi, and Ken Anderson. Another spread features a photo of Disney’s famous “Nine Old Men,” signed by all nine: Ward Kimball, Frank Thomas, Milt Kahl, Woolie Reitherman, Ollie Johnston, Marc Davis, John Lounsbery, Eric Larson, and Les Clark. The book has also been signed elsewhere by Xavier Atencio, Bill Justice, Erni Nordli, Don Griffith, Tom Codrick, Gerry Geronimi, Eric Larson (in addition to the signature noted above), and Mal Stewart. In fine condition, with faint paperclip impression to signed page (well away from signature), light wear to extremities, and scattered rubbing, wear, and lamination peeling to jacket. A most distinguished and significant gathering virtually impossible to obtain on a single item! PSA/DNA Auction LOA and R&R COA.
