Description

American blues singer (1926–1984), known as “Big Mama,” best remembered as the first to record “Hound Dog,” the song Elvis made into a million-selling hit. DS, one page both sides, 8.5 x 11, American Federation of Musicians letterhead, August 25, 1971. A performance contract wherein Big Mama Thornton and the Hound Dogs agree to appear at Lennie’s on the Turnpike in Danvers, Massachusetts for six days of performances, for which they will be paid $2000 or 50% of admissions, whichever is greater. Signed at the bottom in black ballpoint by Thornton. A few wrinkles and tiny edge tears, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
