Description

American actor (1929–1968) best known for his juvenile appearances in the popular “Our Gang” film series and for his role as the teenaged Al Jolson in The Al Jolson Story. His later years were marked by divorce, alcoholism, and drug abuse, and though the cause of his death at the age of thirty-eight was ruled “inconclusive,” sleeping pills and a note found near his body suggest a suicide. Partially printed DS, signed in pencil, “Scotty Beckett,” one page both sides, 6.5 x 8.5, March 11, 1940. An application for membership in the American Federation of Radio Artists. In addition to signing, Beckett has also filled in the appropriate blanks with his address, telephone number, and agent’s name. Accompanied by an 8 x 10 facsimile photo of a young Beckett. In very fine, crisp condition. R&R COA.
