Description

Cowboy cleans up

Popular American entertainer (1879–1935) who cultivated an image as a wisecracking cowboy and earned worldwide renown for his mordant wit and skill at rope tricks. After a successful vaudeville career, including a stint as the one of the star attractions of the Ziegfeld Follies, Rogers made an easy transition to films and became one of the top box-office draws of the late 1920s and early 1930s. His career came to an untimely end when he died in a plane crash in Alaska along with pilot Wiley Post. Vintage glossy 8 x 10 photo of a younger, formally dressed Rogers contained within an oval vignette, signed and inscribed in green ink, “Miss Gertrude Gilbert, Sincerely, Will Rogers.” In very good condition, with light rubbing, scattered dings and surface marks, and a few tiny edge tears and pinholes, confined to blank margins. R&R COA.
