American jazz musician (1904–1943) whose inimitable “stride” piano style made him one of the greatest players ever. As a songwriter, Waller produced such standards as “Ain’t Misbehavin’” and “Honeysuckle Rose.” Terrific vintage sepia glossy 8 x 10 photo of a smiling Waller seated at the keyboard, signed and inscribed in fountain pen, “To Billy: String along with my best wishes. Yes Yes! Fats Waller.” Please note that there is no border along the top edge, as at the other three edges; however, as the photo measures a full 8 x 10 and there is no loss to the image nor evidence of trimming, the photo was evidently printed this way. In fine condition, with mild toning, a few light bends, and scattered dings and surface impressions. R&R COA.
