Description

Writing to Jack Benny a month after leaving the vice presidency: “I will now have time to reduce my golf handicap”

TLS signed “Dick,” one page, 7.25 x 10.75, February 21, 1961. Nixon writes to comedian/actor Jack Benny. In part: “I only hope you know how much I have appreciated your friendship over the years. One of the compensations in leaving public office is that I will now have time to reduce my golf handicap. As soon as I get squared around I shall be in touch with you and see if we can get together for a game. As I was closing my office I found that I had a few Vice Presidential ash trays in surplus. I thought you might enjoy using one in your home or office and once I arrive in California I shall have this souvenir mailed out to you.” A few bends and wrinkles, otherwise fine, clean condition. Auction LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
