Description

Despot Dearest: Saddam writes to his favorite daughter

TLS in Arabic, signed with his full name, one page, 8.25 x 11.75, official letterhead, July 1, 2001. Hussein writes to his daughter, Hala. In full (translated): “I hope you and your kids are in good health. How I wish to be with you today, but state business is a burden, as you well know.” Hala (born 1979) was among the Hussein family members who fled Iraq in 2003 following an ultimatim by U.S. President George W. Bush. Her current whereabouts are unknown. In very good condition, with scattered soiling and spotting, well away from signature. Letters from Saddam with a direct family association and bearing his full signature are quite scarce. R&R COA.
