Description

IRREPLACEABLE: Gershwin pens his lyrics for “Embraceable You”

Distinguished American lyricist (1896–1983), who, after the death of his brother and principal collaborator, George, in 1937, wrote songs with such notable composers as Jerome Kern, Kurt Weill, Harold Arlen, and Aaron Copland. Superb AQS, the lyrics to the refrain from his beloved standard “Embraceable You,” one page on his 7.25 x 10.5 personal letterhead, signed and dated “Ira Gershwin, December 9, 1955, Beverly Hills.” Mailing folds, otherwise very fine condition. A gorgeous item with a first-rate association! LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
