Description

Popular American entertainer (1879–1935) who cultivated an image as a wisecracking cowboy and earned worldwide renown for his mordant wit and skill at rope tricks. After a successful vaudeville career, including a stint as the one of the star attractions of the Ziegfeld Follies, Rogers made an easy transition to films and became one of the top box-office draws of the late 1920s and early 1930s. His career came to an untimely end when he died in a plane crash in Alaska along with pilot Wiley Post. Vintage pearl-finish 11 x 14 head-and-shoulders photo, signed and inscribed in fountain pen “To Sunny Joy Ingram, Best wishes, Will Rogers.” In very good condition, with mild overall irregular adhesion of ink to signature and inscription, tack hole to each corner and a few light surface marks. R&R COA.
