TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, November 12, 1943. Hitchcock writes to Helen Hayes. In full: “Although I have never had the pleasure of your acquaintance, I have been requested by the Misses Jeanne and Lynn Romer to write and tell you how good they are at the profession of acting. I can only say that I used them once in a picture, and if I did not have any faith in their ability I would not be writing you this letter.” Though twins of the non-conjoined type, the Romer sisters played Siamese twins in a memorable scene in Hitchcock’s 1942 espionage thriller Saboteur. The two would later star in Easter Parade (1948) and the 1949 version of The Great Gatsby. In fine condition, with a few tiny spots, light folds touching signature, and pencil notation at top edge.
