Pioneering American motion picture producer and executive (1873–1976) who was the founder and longtime head of Paramount Studios. Among the films whose production he personally oversaw were the classics Make Way for Tomorrow and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. He received a honorary Oscar in 1948 for his contributions to the motion picture industry.
