Quirkily brilliant entertainer (1919–1962) whose freewheeling sense of humor and sense of visual style made him of the most distinctive personalities in the early days of television. He died in a 1962 auto crash while driving the notoriously “unsafe at any speed” Chevrolet Corvair. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, National broadcasting Company, Inc. letterhead, no date. Short letter of thanks for a sent gift. In full, “Thank you so very much for sending ‘Howard’ the little gifts. I hope you are enjoying the television program.” Accompanied by the original mailing envelope, postmarked April 9, 1956. In fine condition, with a bit of mild toning and wrinkling. R&R COA.
