Description

Seeking help for his son in a real estate transaction

ALS, one page, 8 x 10, October 20, 1835. Clay writes to Major R. Graham in Hazlewood, Missouri. In part: “James has talked with me about the purchase of some wood land five or six miles off…. I wish you would give him your good advice. My own view is that he should not purchase more than is needful to support the farms already purchased; but if he cannot buy less for that purpose than the four hundred acres, I suppose it must be bought…. I will be obliged to you, if necessary, to endorse his bills and assist him in these negotiations.” The adjacent address leaf remains intact. In fine condition, with light wrinkling and soiling and small loss to one blank corner. R&R COA.
