I wish you would give him your good advice. My own view is that he should not purchase more than is needful to support the farms already purchased; but if he cannot buy less for that purpose than the four hundred acres, I suppose it must be bought…. I will be obliged to you, if necessary, to endorse his bills and assist him in these negotiations.” The adjacent address leaf remains intact.
