A glowing thank-you from Madame Curie

Polish-born French physicist, she and her husband Pierre discovered two new elements, polonium and radium, in 1898. In 1911 she won the Nobel Prize for Chemistry. She died of leukemia brought about by her work with radioactive material. TLS signed “M. Curie,” one page, 5.5 x 7.5, Faculte Des Sciences De Paris letterhead, November 8, 1929. Letter of thanks to Mrs. Reid. In full, “I want to thank you and Mr. Reid for your hospitality and for the birthday good wishes. I enjoyed my visit in your beautiful home.” In fine condition, trimmed slightly in size, with a small tear to upper margin and an unobtrusive mounting remnant to lower edge.
