Description

Hairy tale come true? Original handwritten verse with a relic from the great Danish writer

Beloved Danish author (1805–1875) best known for such classic fairy tales as “The Ugly Duckling,” “The Red Shoes,” and “The Emperor’s New Clothes.” Unsigned and untranslated two-line verse (in pencil) on a pale green 8.25 x 3.25 slip. The slip, originally folded into a packet, bears a contemporaneous ink inscription on the reverse stating that the writing is in Andersen’s hand and that the packet contains a lock of Andersen’s hair [comprising several dozen lengthy strands], which is included. In very good condition, with folds, wrinkles, and a few tiny holes to note. The writing is generally clean and unaffected. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
