British caricaturist and illustrator (1792–1878) best known for his works satirizing contemporary politics and his illustrations for the books of Charles Dickens. ALS, signed “Geo. Cruikshank,” one page, 4.25 x 7.25, November 18, 1848. Cruikshank writes to J. H. Parker, Esq. In part: “Lieut. Scott having been laid up with a cold could not promise to be with me on Monday—but expects to be well enough by Wednesday evening and will be here by half past 6 or 7 … I hope also to have the pleasure of your company.” An adjoining leaf bears the address panel written in Cruikshank’s hand, including his own signature.
