Legendary director (1885–1957) whose autocratic nature and profligacy brought an end to his directorial career. He went on to enjoy success as a character actor, perhaps most memorably as Gloria Swanson’s faithful butler in the 1950 classic Sunset Boulevard. Vintage fountain pen signature, “Best wishes, Erich von Stroheim,” on a light blue album page. Double matted with a small name plaque and a glossy 8 x 10 photo of von Stroheim in a Nazi uniform, to an overall size of 15 x 12.
