Description

Over and out—of the White House: “I attended a few [retirement dinners] myself last month ... that’s about the last time I’m going to retire”

Lot of two TLSs, as follows: 1) One page, 6.75 x 9, White House letterhead, January 20, 1968. Johnson writes to Cyril Magnin in San Francisco. In part: “All the hopes I expressed in my State of the Union address are brighter because you share them, and closer because you work with me to win them for the proud country we love.” 2) One page, 7 x 8.75, gilt-embossed personal letterhead, February 11, 1969. Johnson writes again to Magnin. In part: “I was delighted to hear that your retirement dinner was a success. I attended a few of them myself last month—and I think that’s about the last time I’m going to retire.” In fine condition, with mounting remnants to reverse of earlier letter. LOA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
