American League President and 1937 Hall of Famer. TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, American League letterhead, May 14, 1920. Letter sent to Yankees’ Manager Miller Huggins letter concerning the suspension of famed Yankee pitcher Bob Shawkey. In part, “He [Shawkey] should have been removed from the game and automatically suspended for ten days. The rules are very clear on this point, and I am surprised a pitcher of Shawkey’s intelligence should have offended to such a degree. The rules were made by the Committee, and they will be enforced. The fine must be paid within three days.” In fine condition, with several mailing folds, one through signature and small area of paper loss to top edge.
