He turned bad breath into big business

British surgeon (1827–1912) who pioneered the practice of sterile surgery, one of the most important medical advances of the day. His name later became synonymous with a best-selling brand of antiseptic mouthwash. ALS, one page, 3.5 x 4.25, personal letterhead, February 12, 1897. Lister writes to Lord Rowton. In full: “I am greatly obliged to you for so kindly acceding to my request.” Matted with a color image and engraved plaque to an overall size of 17.25 x 10.5. A few mild wrinkles, otherwise fine condition. R&R COA.
