Legendary organized crime leader (1902–1983) who led the notorious “enforcement” syndicate Murder, Inc., which emerged in the early 1930s as successor to the warring Prohibition gangs and the old-line Mafia and continued to operate into the 1950s. Bank check, 6.25 x 2.75, filled out and signed by Lansky, payable to Mrs. A[nna] Lansky for $500.00, September 30, 1937. The check has been endorsed on the reverse, “Anna Lansky.” Accompanied by an unsigned 1938 bank statement enumerating four checks written on Lansky’s account.
