A month following FDR’s election, Eleanor writes of “the great responsibility which lies before us”

Lot of three items: franking signature, “Free, Edith K. Roosevelt,” on a 4.75 x 3.5 envelope addressed in her hand and postmarked August 25, 1944; 1932 TLS on Executive Mansion, Albany letterhead, signed “Eleanor Roosevelt,” sending thanks in the wake of FDR’s first election as president; and a 1941 TLS on White House letterhead, signed “Eleanor Roosevelt,” mentioning the recent death of her mother. Accompanied by the original mailing envelope for the 1932 letter. In fine condition, with postal cancellation to franking signature and White House letter with pencil secretarial notation. R&R COA.
