Scalloped-top vellum DS, signed by Jackson as president, “Andrew Jackson,” and by Van Buren as Secretary of State, “M. Van Buren.” A ship’s pass issued to the “Ship Pacific of New Bedford, Daniel McKenzie Master and Commander of the Burthen 331 & 71/95 tons or thereabouts, mounted with no carriage guns, navigated with twenty-three men to pass with her Company Passengers, Goods and Merchandise without any hinderence, seizure or molestation.” Boldly signed at the conclusion in black ink “Andrew Jackson,” and “M. Van Buren.” In fine condition, with previous storage folds and a light shade of toning to vellum. First ship’s pass we have seen signed by Jackson and Van Buren, this particular document being a fine example of this scarce combination. COA John Reznikoff/PSA/DNA and R&R COA.
