Wagner, desperate to recoup some of his losses from recent Bayreuth Festivals, accepted a conducting engagement in London in 1877. Later that year, he began work on Parsifal, his final masterpiece. The address Wagner penned is that of Edward Dannreuther, a close friend and the Wagners’ host during their stay in London. Quite unusual!
