TLS, one page, 8.5 x 11, personal letterhead, February 16, 1994. Lincoln responds to an inquiry about her activities on the day of JFK’s assassination. In part: “I was in Dallas and I was in the motorcade which left Love Field to go down the Main street of Dallas headed for the Trade Center where he was going to speak at a luncheon…. The trip down Main Street was uneventful, but after we went under a bridge and came out on the other side the President’s car shot out to the right…. As I stepped out of my car in front of the Hospital Dr. Burkley was waiting for me and he said ‘I am afraid—he is gone.’ The shock was immense. I walked into the lobby and there was Mrs. Kennedy sitting on a chair outside of the room where the President’s body had been taken. I put my arms around here, but there was no response…. The one thing that consoled me—I still had my husband and he would be waiting for me when I got back.” In fine condition. R&R COA.
