ALS, one page, 5 x 8, personal letterhead, April 21, 1879. Darwin writes to an unnamed gentleman. In part: “I am much obliged for your courteous letter & for the gift of your articles, which I will soon read. It is very gratifying to me to hear that the agriculturists attend at all to my works….” After signing, Darwin adds a postscript: “As I have great difficulty reading German letters, I have been compelled to [illegible] your address to the envelope of this note.” In fine condition, with usual mailing folds and a hint of mild toning and soiling.
